Comments

Hi Ladies
From a very wet and foggy Kilcoole
you all know I love to get comments,
But I got 14 very stupid ones last night, which automatically
go to spam if you add a link, so they were not published,
My blog is only about Card making, and sharing my hobby,
with other card makers,
because that person did not leave their name, to the comments, and removing there IP from my feed list, their comments have all been removed. if they really like card making they would of joined as a follower or left their name.

So please keep the comments coming, but if you sign in as Anonymous, please leave you name. and don't add links to other sites. if you would like you craft blog or shop mentioned I am very happy to add you the the lists in the right hand column.
Many thanks
Yvonne

Update
As you noticed Mr No name
That comment didn't come through either.
this person is leaving links to unsafe sites.
which will not be posted.

Good Morning Everyone
I am all set for Next Saturday in Kilkenny.
Please check the Workshop page for updates.

Well Ladies I have finally finished the last sample,
this one was really stumping me, as I wanted to do something completely non Traditional and take me out of my comfort zone.
As to me Christmas is all about Tradition, carrying forward the Traditions you learned from your family, and bringing them to your own family, adding new ones each year.

I will save the photo snippet. as I want to keep it a surprise.
Really looking forward to catching up with you all.

Tea Brack Recipe

Hi Ladies I have added the tutorial for the
Wine Bottle Gift Tag HERE

This is the Recipe for the
Tea Brack

Ingredients

300ml Cold Tea
110g Sultanas
220g Raisins
55g  GlacĆ© Cherries, halved & quartered
55g Mixed Candied Peel
200g Light Muscovado Sugar
225g Self Raising Flour
1 Egg, beaten
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Cinnamon

Method

Place  sultanas, raisins, cherries & candied peel in a bowl pour over the cold tea,
Cover, set aside and soak overnight
Preheat the oven to 180C
line and grease a 2lb loaf tin
Add the sugar, flour, egg, nutmeg and cinnamon to the tea and fruit, mix well ensuring everything is well incorporated.
this is quiet a wet mix when all mixed together, so don't panic, it works everytime, and is beautifully moist.
Transfer the mixture to the loaf tin
Bake in the oven for 1 hour and 20-30 minutes
Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cooling rack.
Serve in slices with butter
this brack will keep for about a month stored in an airtight tin.

Handmade Christmas Cards

The Essence of Christmas
Well Christmas is well and truly started in my craft room.

Simply Delicious
The main image is a Vintage Christmas image from HERE
The Recipes and food clip art are from Printable Heaven, HERE

I made a Pocket to store the recipe cards in for the back of the card

This card was all about the wonderful food we eat at Christmas.
When I was a child I remember my Mam had a special cupboard, where she started gathering special goodies just for Christmas, you could look, but not touch until Christmas eve, when the extra special food started to appear, and each day until new years eve, we had delightful treats to eat.

Anticipation
Remember when you were a Child, the excitement of Christmas
This beautiful image from Christine Haworth captured that feeling.
Background from Craft Creations

Elegance in Pink
This card was made by joining 2 x 5 inch Sq Scalloped cards together, then scoring diagonally the left and right covers, to form the folded back gate fold card,
Main image from Etsy.
Pink snowflake paper HERE

The large white poinsettia, has a beautiful pearl and diamond cluster button in the centre.

Card opened to reveal a photo corner pocket to hold the topper in place.

Back view of card,
the overlapped cards looked so pretty I decided to add the ribbon seam, and some peel-offs  to finish it off.

Welcome Home for Christmas
This card is for a young couple arriving home for Christmas
and has a beautiful garland surrounding the front door with a tartan bow to finish

Remembrance
Beautiful Angel image from Etsy.
I have used white organza bow, with ivy and holly leaves, white poinsettias, marabou feathers, and beautiful glittered white fern,
This card is for Family or Friends away from home.
but would also be perfect to remember a lost loved one.

I would love some feed back, so please let me know what you think
Yvonne xx

Oct 3, 2012

What you need to bring to my workshops.

Craft mat, score board,  paper trimmer, bone folder,
Scissors, craft knife, ruler. pencil, rubber,

Double sided tape, good quality all purpose paper glue,
foam pads, foam tape,

Hi-tac glue or book binding glue. Glue pen,

A hot glue gun, and an extension lead,
so that you can use it at your table.
( This helps to speed up the class as hot glue dries instantly)
Hot glue guns range in price from about €10.00 to €40.00
and are available in most DIY stores.
This is one piece of equipment I could not do without

Stickles, gems, pearls and peel-offs are supplied in the kits,
but bring extra with you, just encase you want to add extra sparkle.

I set up 2 work station areas with
glue guns and any extras you might need,
So don't worry if you haven't got everything on the list.
just let me know and I will bring extras.

But check back nearer the date of your workshop to see
if I have added anything else.
which will be posted on the workshop information details, and sent out in a email.
All kits come with full instructions,
so that you can repeat the design at home.
Many thanks Yvonne xx
